Hey. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any accessible or generally accessible writing communities. I want to share some of my work online, and am a part of both figment and mibba, but neither are extremely great in the working correctly department. I know there are other writers here, and I'm asking you now which if any you know of that are easily accessible as far as online writing communities go?
I use critiquecircle.com. Its a great place where you get some really good fedback, but its interactive, so you have to give to get there. You can't just post the ork online and expect to get feedback unless you give feedback on other stories. Its a great way to get exposed to more writing, some o which is great and some of which is terrible.
Yeah. That's sort of the same way on figment. I'm willing to give others feedback. It's actually pretty fun to read other writers' works
fictionpress.com
Good news people. I discovered, quite on accident, that figment is indeed accessible.
I use DeviantART, but it is deeeeeefinitely not the most accessible. It just happens to be the community that most meets my needs because I am a multidisciplinary artist (so I do writing and photography). If any of you should venture over there, JAWS reportedly works best with it, though it definitely takes some getting used to. Window-Eyes and NVDA work all right with it as well, for a site that hasn't been designed with the blind in mind.
I haven't been there in a while, but Speculativefiction.com Like all writing sites, it too requires you to give to recieve, which is the way it should be. It used to be pretty accessible and might be worth a look.
There's also contests on Livejournal for writing. And communities in which you can write and get feedback.
Fictionpress.com is good and there's also fanfiction.net which is kinda like fictionpress.com sister lol..
